I am Wong Xin Rui Trixie, 21.
I chose to a do a degree in Professional Communications at RMIT because I can go down various avenues with a degree in Communications; I am not limited to only one field of work. I am particularly interested in the journalism and PR field, specifically in the fashion industry. I would love to be a fashion journalist or a fashion publicist. I have no experience yet, but I am looking for internships while I’m doing my degree.
I want to hone both the soft and hard skills needed to work in the fields that I am interested in. Soft skills like having a keen eye for detail, coupled with hard skills like knowing how to write a convincing pitch/argument and good writing skills would definitely be beneficial for me.
I expect myself to be confident enough to face any challenge that is presented to me, big or small. I imagine my career to give me a challenge at times so I can showcase my strengths. It would also be very fast-paced so I would to always be on my toes and think fast.
I am a good team-worker as well as an independent worker. I am organised and systematic – I would always have a plan in mind before jumping into action. I am also a hands-on learner, I get the hang of things quicker and better when I’m involved in the experience.
I get inspired to improve when I get praise or recognition from others. Constructive criticism also helps me get better and to see myself succeed in the end is really satisfying, so I would be willing to try again after my failures.
